+---------------------------------+ The Legend Of Zelda: The Hyrule Fantasy Also Known As: The Legend of Zelda I Item Guide Copyright (C) TheMasterSwordsman 2008. Reserved for use on www.triforcetour.com. This guide helps you identify items, and their locations in the First Quest. +---------------------------------+ Melee Items ------------------ Melee Items can be acquired during battle as small ailments to aid in battle. They are found everywhere, underworld and overworld. Heart - See that LIFE meter in the upper right hand corner? A heart that you collect in battle restores one whole heart in that meter! Fairy - Restores about 6 hearts, if I remember correctly. Fariy Ponds have a "Great Fairy" that heal you completely. Clock - A small clock that allows you to freeze time and destroy all enemies around you without them making a single move! Rupee - A small jewel that is the currency in The Legend of Zelda and all of its successors. The Rupee is classfied differently in Zelda I: 1 Rupee = A little blue-and-orange blinking jewel. 5 Rupees = A little solid blue colored jewel. Rupees are also used as counters for your arrows. Using one arrow costs 1 rupee. There are some Moblins that will give you money if you find their secret caves ("IT'S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY.") Some of the people in Hyrule are angered when you blow up their doors with bombs and will charge you 10 or 20 Rupees. You can carry up to 255 Rupees. There are no "wallet upgrades" in this game. Helper Items ------------------ These are the most helpful items in the game. They give Link new abilities and can be "equipped" (mapped) to the B button. Bow - The bow acquired in Level 1. The Bow is only usable when you buy the Arrow. Wooden Arrow - The arrow that can be acquired in several shops across Hyrule. Usually 80 Rupees. It's more like a "quiver" of sorts, once you buy it, as long as you have Rupees, you can fire an arrow from your bow. It has the damage capability of the Wooden Sword. Magic Rod - A special wand that helps against enemies without armor. It has the damage capability of the White Sword. Acquired in Level 7. Bombs - Arguably a Melee item as well (as it can be picked up in the overworld during battle), it allows you to blow up an assortment of things. Blow up walls in dungeons to make them walkable. If you don't already have them, they'll be in Level 2. Key - Allows you to unlock a door in a dungeon. These can be found everywhere in dungeons and bought in shops. If you play it right, you'll never have to buy a key in the game. Flute - Using this magic flute in the overworld will warp you to the entrance to a dungeon that you've already beaten. Using it in a dungeon will take you back to the entrance of the dungeon. Available in Level 5. Wooden Boomerang - The boomerang acquired in Level 1. It does half of the damage that the Wooden Sword does and usually stuns weak enemies and kills most small ones. Letter - Acquired in a cave in the Overworld which allows you to buy potions from the old woman. Magic Boomerang - Same as the Wooden Boomerang, but it goes farther. Acquired in Level 2. Blue Candle - Bought in a shop in the overworld. Can only be used once per screen. Allows you to burn bushes and lighten up darkened rooms. Red Candle - Same as the Blue Candle... except it can be used more than once per screen. What a miracle! Magical Shield - A slightly larger shield that can be eaten by a Like-Like if you're not careful. Deflects Magical attacks and projectile attacks. Bait - The most misunderstood and only-used-in-one-game item that I can remember. Moblins and hungry Goriyas will flock to this meat allowing you to hack away at them with your sword. Silver Arrows - Required to defeat Ganon, found in Level 9. An upgrade to the Wooden Arrows. Blue Potion - Allows you to heal your health completely on-demand. Replaces the Letter in the Inventory screen. Red Potion (Water of Life, or 2nd Potion) - Same thing as the blue potion, but contains two doses of the blue potion. After the first dose, it turns into a Blue Potion. Swords ------------------ Do I really have to say what Swords are? I'm a swordsman, for God's sakes. Wooden Sword - Damage Count is 1 heart against other enemies. Found in the Starting Screen. Requires 3 hearts. White Sword - Damage Count is 3 hearts against other enemies. Found in the northern parts of Hyrule in a cave above the waterfall. Requires 5 hearts and the Wooden Sword. Magical Sword - Damage Count is 6 hearts against other enemies. Required to defeat Ganon. Found in the Northeastern part of the Graveyard (in Eastern Hyrule). Requires 14 hearts and the White Sword. Equipment Items ------------------ These items cannot be mapped to the B button. They give Link new abilities. (Locations coming soon) Stepladder - Allows you to cross rivers that are one sprite across. Raft - Allows you to cross rivers by stepping on a Dock. Magical Key - You'll never need another dungeon key again with this item. Unlocks all doors! Magic Book - The most useless item in the game, which allows you to produce a pillar of flame JUST LIKE THE CANDLE out of the magic beams that the Magic Rod creates. Power Bracelet - An item that allows you to move heavy objects. Blue Ring - Reduces damage that Link takes by half. Can be bought at only one secret shop in Hyrule. Red Ring - Found in Level 8, which is an upgrade for the Blue Ring. Again, it reduces damage by half. Dungeon Specific Items ------------------ Triforce of Wisdom Shard - One piece per dungeon. Blinking orange and blue triangle. Requires 8 of these items to reach Ganon's Lair. Triforce of Power - Found after defeating Ganon. Required to beat the game. A flashing inverted triangle. Compass - Allows you to see the Triforce of Wisdom shard's location on the map. The Triforce is denoted by a blinking red light on the map. One per dungeon. Dungeon Map - Allows you to see the full map of the current dungeon. Like the Compass, there's only one per dungeon.
